Marunda Private Limited, a woman owned small business, founded in 1985 as Marunda Utama Engineering Pte Ltd on the premise of providing world-class land-based and marine power generation service and solutions, has grown into an Indo-Pacific regional enterprise known for providing responsive and high-quality comprehensive integrated Land and Maritime Engineering Servicing Solutions to our Defense and Commercial customers.

For over three decades, Marunda has been ideally situated to support both multinational and U.S. defense firms with their mission needs in the IndoPacific region. Marunda deploys a wide range of technical specialists to enhance advanced repair and service capabilities for those supporting the warfighter.

As we enter the AUKUS Era, Marunda is committed to continuing its 40-year legacy of engineering support services to the United States Navy and allied and partner navies operating throughout the region. Our support is anchored in vital micro-partnerships that facilitate access to cutting-edge innovation, collaborative information exchange, regional marketplaces, and the skilled individuals necessary to sustain modern fleets.

Our Founder

Rachel Wong Mai Kim

Rachel Wong is the Founder and Managing Director of Marunda Private Limited, formerly known as Marunda Utama Engineering Pte Ltd. Headquartered in Singapore, Marunda has branch offices in Guam, USA and Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines established under the brand name Marunda Defense Services.

Co-Founded in 1985, Rachel’s initial business focus was on Trading and power-generation Brand Representation where she eventually found a strong footing in land-based and marine power generation representation for United States and European original equipment manufacturers. As Rachel’s business grew throughout the 1990’s, Rachel and the Marunda brand became recognizable within the industry as being specialists in power generation equipment installation, servicing and solutions. Rachel became the sole owner and Managing Director of Marunda Utama Engineering Pte Ltd in 1992.

Although Rachel has uniquely diversified Marunda with global product-line representation throughout its 40-year lifespan, the core foundation of the company has matured into providing superior defense engineering, repairs and maintenance to the United States Navy, in concert with US based prime defense contractors, and providing naval fleet repair and maintenance support for allied and partner navies operating throughout the Indo Pacific Region.

Marunda’s defense engineering servicing portfolio is underpinned by its Level 4 Channel Partner relationship with Fairbanks Morse Defense and their growing suite of essential marine equipment that was established in 1998; by her legacy and current support relationships with Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics/NASSCO, Austal USA, Epsilon Systems Solutions and BAE Systems Inc since 2012 in providing engineering service support to the US Navy’s rotationally deployed Littoral Combat Ships (LCS); and by her US Naval Sea Systems (NAVSEA) Command Agreement for Boat (ABR) Certification (since 2004) and direct ship repair support to the US Navy and Military Sealift Command.

In 2023, Rachel embarked on a campaign to bring Marunda’s brand of defense engineering services to Allied and Partner navies in providing expeditionary repairs and maintenance services to naval fleets deployed away from their homeports operating in the Indo Pacific region.
