Rachel Wong Mai Kim

Founder & Managing Director

Rachel Wong is the Founder and Managing Director of Marunda Private Limited, formerly Marunda Utama Engineering Pte Ltd. Since co-founding the company in 1985, she has steered Marunda from a trading and power-generation representation business into a trusted name in defence engineering across the Indo-Pacific region.

In the early years, Rachel established strong partnerships with US and European OEMs in land-based and marine power generation. By the 1990s, the Marunda name had become synonymous with reliable installation, servicing, and solutions for power generation equipment. In 1992, Rachel became the sole owner and has since led Marunda with a clear vision for growth and innovation.

Under her leadership, Marunda has evolved into a key service provider for the US Navy and allied fleets, offering engineering support, ship repairs, and maintenance. The company has held a Level 4 Channel Partner status with Fairbanks Morse Defense since 1998, and continues to support defence giants such as Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics/NASSCO, Austal USA, Epsilon Systems, and BAE Systems.

A pivotal milestone came in 2004 with a NAVSEA ABR Certification, enabling Marunda to perform direct ship repair for the US Navy and Military Sealift Command. In 2024, Rachel expanded Marunda’s reach further—championing the delivery of expeditionary naval support services to Allied and Partner navies across the Indo-Pacific.

Her pioneering spirit and unwavering focus on quality have made Marunda a dependable partner in maritime defence engineering.
