In-Water Hull Inspection & Cleaning Innovation

Singapore – Marunda is progressing a capability exploration initiative focused on in-water hull inspection and cleaning solutions to support safer operations, environmental protection, and improved vessel efficiency within Singapore’s port environment.

As part of this exploration, Marunda is engaging Franmarinea global leader in the development and operation of integrated in-water inspection and cleaning technologies, to assess the applicability of hybrid robotic and digitally enabled approaches for regulated port operations.

This engagement aligns with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s (MPA) ongoing focus on innovation, sustainability, and workforce safety in maritime maintenance activities.

The initiative is being evaluated in the context of emerging regulatory requirements for biofouling management, waste capture, and operational traceability. Any future deployment would remain subject to regulatory approvals, trial outcomes, and operational validation in Singapore waters.

By combining Marunda’s local marine engineering experience with Franmarine’s operational track record in regulated environments, the collaboration seeks to explore solutions that balance practical deployability, environmental responsibility, and enable international compliance standardisation, rather than experimental or laboratory-based concepts.

Marunda remains committed to supporting Singapore’s maritime sustainability objectives through the measured adoption of proven technologies and partnerships that deliver real-world operational value.
